Glenn V. Smith

FREMONT: Glenn V. Smith, 79, of Fremont, died early Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home.

He was born on July 7, 1931 in Fremont to Herman and Ruth (Grundy) Smith. Glenn attended Fremont Ross High School and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Donna LaVone Cooper and she preceded him in death in 1993. Glenn was a retired supervisor at CE Basic Inc. and later worked at Thatcher Dry Cleaners, drove school bus and was head of security at CCC Camp Quilter.

He enjoyed helping other people and spending time with his friends.

Surviving are children, Cody Smith of Fremont, Glenn (Sandy) Smith II of Woodville, Andy Smith, Jeffrey Smith and Joe Smith all of Fremont; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; siblings, May Hepner, Jack Smith, Nancy Roach and Ward Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Leroy and Lois.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
