Betty A. Durst

CLYDE: Betty A. Durst 82, of Clyde died at Stein Hospice in Sandusky on Monday, March 21, 2011. Mrs. Durst was born in Hartland Center, Ohio on February 3, 1929 to the late Clair Daniel and Mable (Liedorff) Church. She graduated from East Townsend High School in 1946.

On February 3, 1950, she married Alvin L. Durst and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1984. She was also preceded in death by their son, Kenneth Durst on August 6, 1995 and grandson, John David Culbertson along with her two brothers, William B. Church and Darrol "Dick" Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Dianne Culbertson (Dave) of Clyde; and seven grandchildren, Sgt. John A. Bizorik,III, Marie E. Heimbaugh, Adam Culbertson, Jeremy Durst, Bobbi Jo Durst, Jennifer Hohman and Sarah Davenport. Fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.

Betty was a Charter member of the Clyde VFW Auxiliary, where she had formerly served for many years as the National Home Chair; she was active in the Color Guard of the VFW, carrying the American Flag for parades, football games and funeral detail. For fifty years she bowled and for over forty years she was a golfer.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South main St., Clyde, Ohio. VFW Auxiliary services will be held at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bakertown Cemetery.
