SANDUSKY: Evelyn (Slusher) Schuessler, 77 of Sandusky, passed away April 23, 2012 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
Evelyn was born on November 11, 1934 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Charles and Emma (Davis) Schuessler. When she was 18 years old, she moved to Ohio, and married the love of her life Edgar H. Schuessler on May 23, 1953.
Evelyn was a bookkeeper for the Sandusky Baptist Temple for 20 years, and was a long time member of the Temple and a charter member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, traveling with family, and playing games.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Rev. Richard (Fran) Schuessler; daughter, Deborah K. (Jeff) Walton; four grandsons, Richard C. (Carrie) Schuessler, Daniel V. (Nancy) Schuessler, Jeffery A. Walton, Andrew S. (Amanda) Walton; two granddaughters, Kari L. Walton, Natalie D. (Matt) Ruta; two sisters, Alpha Stancil, Dixie C. Slusher, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar, to whom she was married to for 57 years; two brothers, Lewis Slusher, Troy Slusher; nephew, Clayton Slusher; and her in-laws, Richard A. Schuessler, and Ella Pitsenburg.
Friends may call on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 11 am until the time of services at 1 pm at the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Evelyn's son, the Rev. Richard C. Schuessler will officiate the service. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.
