Salvador J. Lopez
SHELBY: Salvador J. Lopez, age 74, resident of Shelby died Tuesday September 25, 2012 in MedCentral Hospital Mansfield.
Born May 26, 1938 in Los Indios, TX to Porfirio and Clemencia (Galan) Lopez, he had been a Shelby resident since 1962. He had been formerly employed as a foreman with MICA Products and was later employed with Ohio Seamless Tube Co. retiring in 2007.
He was a veteran of the Army National Guard in Texas. Mr. Lopez was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary (Rodriguez) Lopez; two sons, Salvador Lopez, Jr., Anthony Lopez, both of Shelby; three daughters Cindy Lawrence of Columbus, Rose (Greg) Ogborn of Marion, Sandy (Scott) Chilson of Shelby; nine grandchildren David, Michael, Maria, Angelica, Selena, Phillip, Marcelina, Luke and Isa; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Trini (Mike) Rivera of Toledo, Maria Opata of Columbus, Adele (Jose) Rodriguez of Fremont; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Jose A. Lopez, infant daughter Linda Lopez, grandson Markus Lawrence and one sister Hilda Hurtado.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Father Nicholas Cunningham will officiate with interment in Crawford County Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby Friday, September 28, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM where the Rosary will be recited at 8:00PM.
