CLYDE: Rita L. Wiedle, 95, of Clyde, died at her home on Saturday, December 29, 2012.

Rita was born in Milan, Ohio on December 15, 1917 to the now deceased Fabian and Helen (Holzhauer) Schwable. She graduated from Milan High School and Bowling Green University. Prior to her marriage, she had been a teacher at Townsend School.

On May 11, 1940, she married Howard R. Wiedle. From 1940-1960 Rita and Howard farmed 370 acres. In 1960, they built Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, which they opened in 1961. Rita and Howard operated the club together before they sold it in 1988.

"Rete" was an avid gardener; an excellent cook and became interested in scrapbooking.

Her husband, Howard survives along with four children, Jean Block (Roger), Treasure Island, Fla; Russell A. "Butch" Wiedle (Helen), Topeka, Kansas; Douglas G. Wiedle (Janis), Clyde and Patricia Wiedle (Kit Hetrick), Clyde. Seven grandchildren; Ronald Moyer; Rick Moyer; Jeff (Jennifer) Moyer; Justin (Erica) Wiedle; John Wiedle; Angela Marie (Jeff) Allamon; Michelle (Kirk) Stewart; Brian Wiedle; three step grandchildren, Andrea (Terry) Gronenthal; Cortney (David) Rapp and Edward (Carrie) Kennedy,IV, twelve great grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive. Numerous nieces and nephews are among the survivors.

Preceding Mrs. Wiedle in death are a daughter, Penny Sue Wiedle in 1964 and Rita's siblings, Rose Gunn; Mary Oakes; Robert Schwable and Wilfred Schwable all preceded her in death.

Visitation will be on Wed., Jan. 2, 2013 from 1-3:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Thurs. Jan 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ed Schleter officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery, Clyde.
