My heart is broken at the loss of my son-in-law Brett. He and Vicki shared the spot as pillar at the center of their family unit. Going forth without his thoughtful, gentle, calming and generous presence is inconceivable. But I know that Vicki will do so with the love and support of Nell and Elizabeth Glass, Catherine and Tony Dobbs, Carl and C.W. Hayes, Dallas and Pat Halcomb, Whitney and Chad Payne, and all of Brett and Vicki's other relatives and many friends. Rest in peace my dear friend Brett, Vicki and the kids are surrounded with love.

It was a pleasure to know Brett as a colleague at Humana. I remember lauging with him about his work instant message post status where he quoted one of his favorite movies..."We are on a mission from God" -Blues Brothers...Little did he know that those words would ring so true to what a wonderful person he was and the lives that he has touched. He will be missed.

Vicki, Savannah, and Gibbs: I cannot find the words to express how sad I am over Brett's passing. My heart breaks for you all; I am beside myself with grief and sorrow. Brett was an amazing person -- a great friend, a loving husband and father. He was my best friend, like the big brother I never had. I loved him like a member of my own family, and I will miss him terribly. The pain I feel inside pales in comparison to yours, and I wish there was something I could say; something I could do to ease your suffering. He loved you all more than anything in this world and I am so, so sorry. I just can't believe he's gone. Please know that I hurt with you, and a piece of my life will always be missing without Brett in it. He was the first person I met on my first day at Humana, and we quickly became good friends. When he learned of my father being in the hospital and later, his passing, he was there to comfort me with kind and gentle words. Just talking to him, I knew I could get through it. I had called him Wednesday morning, to let him know about my dad and to make sure everyone in our department at Humana knew. He said not to even worry about it; he had already taken care of everything for me. That was just the kind of selfless, caring person he was. Brett was smart, funny, quick-witted, warm, and generous; a truly wonderful man. He always said he saw so much of himself in me and I looked up to him with so much respect and admiration. I feel it is a testament to his memory, for me to realize that if I'm even half the man he was, I will consider myself very lucky. I love you guys...my thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone else whose lives Brett had touched. To his mother, father, sister, and all of Brett's family: I am so sorry for your loss, he will be sorely missed...more than you could ever know.

I have great memories of Brett at EHHS, the days we played soccer together in the E'town youth league, spending the night at his farm along KY 222, and I'll never forget that time he kicked that filed goal to beat West (I think) for his first HS game, and it cleared the up right by what seemed like just a few inches. I may the the details a little fuzzy, but I remember the crowed went crazy. I can't believe that he has passed. He is way too young and according to the obituary, had a wonderful life. I certainly pray for his family, I know he will be missed.

I had the privilege of working with Brett on many different levels throughout the past 9 years at Humana, and counted him as a good friend and as a man of integrity, whose word was his bond. I will be thinking of, and praying for, you and your family in the coming days and weeks, as you journey through this valley under death's shadow. I pray that the Lord would pour out His grace, His comfort, His strength, and His peace upon you, and that He would tranform your mourning and grief into laughter and joy.

Brett had such a wonderful spirit and every morning he would grace us with that smile. I have only known Brett for a short time but we have shared many conversations and laughs. I am glad that I had the opportunity to grace his presence because he was a all around good guy. At times like these you have to lean on your faith and try to accept that God has a bigger purpose. Look back to good memories to comfort and help you on the hard days. May all the love that surrounds you give you strength that you will need when everyone has gone back to the daily routines but ALWAYS remember that someone is praying for you. My heart is saddened and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I will remember Brett as being full of passion for many things. He would be quick with a smile, laugh, or any sort of UK statistic you would ever need. He was just as passionate about his work as he was his love for his children. God bless the loves of his life: his wife, Daughter and son.

I was in shock to hear about Brett's passing. I used to work with him at Humana, and every time I'd pass his desk he'd tap me on the shoulder and show me pictures of his wife, and his children and tell me all the things they were doing. He'd tap Vicki's picture and say, "Isn't she gorgeous, I can't believe she chose me, can you?" He really loved his family, and he was one of the best people I ever knew. So very sorry for your loss.
