Joseph Kareth Obituary

Joseph F. Kareth, 94, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence.

He was born March 23, 1918, in Fayette County. He served in World War II from March 1943 to March 1946. Joe retired from the office of personnel at Fort Knox. He coordinated the Book Buddies Program at the Hardin County Library for 20 years until the age of 92.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Jacob and Adelaide Naegele Kareth.

He is survived by his wife, Mary H. Baldwin; a son, Mike (Carol) Baldwin; three grandsons, Mark (Kamala) Thompson, Dr. Thomas (Amy) Baldwin and Charles Baldwin and his fiancé, Katie Haydon; five great-grandchildren, Sophia and Caitlin Thompson and Mason, Evie and Eliza Baldwin.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial follows in St. James Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A prayer vigil is at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus.
