Kenneth R. Gillenwater, 77, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at his home.
He was a native of Hart County, retired from Ralston Purina Mills and owned Gillenwater Farm Supply. He attended New River Worship Center and was the former Sunday school superintendent at Church of God of Prophecy. He was a member of the Optimist Club and president of East Hardin Band Boosters from 1983 to 1984. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Rae Gillenwater, and his parents, Clarence and Edna Gossett Gillenwater.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Noe Gillenwater; two sons, Kenny (Marcella) Gillenwater and Jeff (Denise) Gillenwater, both of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Teresa Carol (Paul) Baker of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Lawrence Gillenwater and Wayne Gillenwater, both of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Alecia Hilbert, Derek Gillenwater, Tara Calhoun, Lindsey Bruce, Lance Baker, Olivia Reed and Nolan Gillenwater; and four great grandchildren, Dianna and Sarah Hilbert, Chloe Reed and Carter Bruce.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New River Worship Center, off U.S. 31W on Battle Training Road, with the Rev. David Nichols and the Rev. Mike Willingham officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues after 9 a.m. Tuesday at New River Worship Center.
