John Dale Miller, 93, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at North Hardin Health and Rehabilitation Center. Survivors include his daughter, Jonna Gwinn. The funeral is at 11 a.m. CST Monday, Dec. 29, at Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield. Cremation was chosen.

Moore, Mary Elizabeth - Hodgenville  
Mary Elizabeth Moore, 92, of Hodgenville, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at Kensington Center in Elizabethtown. Survivors include her husband, James L. Moore Jr.; two sons, Jesse LeRoy Denton and James Arthur Moore The funeral is at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec 26, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Brian Wood officiating. A graveside services will be at 2 p.m. CST, Sunday, Dec. 28, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon, Tennessee. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home.

McFarlin II, Nelve P. "Mac"  
Our beloved Nelve P. McFarlin, known to all as "Mac," joined the Army of the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014. Mac proudly served in three wars for his country, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He received two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and many service ribbons and awards. In World War II, Mac was wounded while serving in the Golden Acorn 87th Infantry Company K known as the "Fighting Terrible 20" at the Battle of the Bulge. He served in Korea and Vietnam with the 522nd and 272nd military police units. On Aug. 31, 1968, Mac retired from the 543rd Military Police at Fort Knox. His assignments were varied and his duty stations ranged from the Tennessee National Guard and Vienna cold war checkpoints, to France, New York, New Jersey, Georgia and Kentucky. Mac worked hard every day. He loved farming and farm animals and wanted to be outdoors daily, often including his family in his adventures. He was a musician, avid wildlife and bird watcher and a great storyteller. After retirement from the military, he was a heavy equipment owner/operator and was employed seven years by Fort Knox Community Schools. Mac was born in Hickman County, Tennessee. After his military career, he retired to Vine Grove, where he was active in the community. He visited local schools on Veterans Day and most recently was grand marshall of the 2014 Autumn Daze Parade. Mac is survived by his wife of 69 years, Illa Mai (Deal) McFarlin, who he married in Tennessee in 1945. He is beloved by a daughter, Shela (David Redmond); a son, Nelve P. McFarlin III "Mac" (Linda Ray); granddaughters, Jessica McFarlin and Allison Scherer (Shaun Scherer) and their children, Ella and Clayton; and by his extended family including his brother, Melvin, and sister, Evelyn. He will be missed by his two favorite pets, Buford the collie and Otis the cat. The funeral is at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Valley View Baptist Church in Vine Grove with Dr. R. Shawn Edwards officiating. Burial with military honors follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and continues after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Hosparus of Central Kentucky or to your favorite charity in his name.

Milliner, Penny L. - Leitchfield  
Penny L. Milliner, 68, of Clarkson, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield with her children by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Terry 'Mike' Milliner. Survivors include her children, George (Heather) Milliner, Amy (Jody) Brown, and Kelly (Rodney) Hudspeth; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Bev (Eddie) Langley, Sonny (Patty) Melton, Joseph (Teresa) Melton, Ricky (Debbie) Melton, Gail (Tony) Rogers, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Cremation was chosen by the family and a private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date. Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
