Morgan, Kyle Jerry-Dale - Moundsville  
Kyle Jerry-Dale Morgan, 15, of Moundsville, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was born in Louisville to Dale Morgan and Angela Hawkins. He was an honor student and a football player. Kyle enjoyed 4-wheeling and video games. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Shirley and Ruth Hawkins; paternal great-grandfather, Harmie Lyons Jr.; and paternal great-grandparents, Roscoe and Donna Morgan. He is survived by his father, Dale Allen Morgan of Moundsville; his mother, Angela Dawn Hawkins of Bardstown; a brother, Austin Yates of Hodgenville; a sister, Natasha Morgan of Athens, West Virginia; a maternal grandfather, Martin Hawkins and fiancée Rose Clark of Cecilia; a maternal grandmother, Rosaleen Cassel of Eastview; paternal grandparents, Jerry (Kathy) Morgan of Sunhill, West Virginia; maternal great-grandmother, Kathleen Coogle of Breckenridge County; and paternal great-grandmother, Ruby Lyons of Saulsville, West Virginia. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Donnie Lewis officiating. Burial follows in Eliza­bethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and continues from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Parker, William Scott "Bill" - Rhome  
Retired Command Sergeant Major William Scott "Bill" Parker, 81, of Rhome, Texas, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Fort Worth, Texas. Bill was born Dec. 31, 1934, to Thomas and Elizabeth Hinds Parker in Memphis, Tennessee. He was united in marriage to Walburga Zimmer on May 6, 1961 in Kirchgoens, Germany. Bill proudly served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam veteran and was stationed at many locations during his career including Germany and Korea. Bill met his wife in Germany in 1960 and they subsequently married in 1961. He was a member of numerous military organizations and received numerous military honors, The governor of Kentucky awarded him Honorary Kentucky Colonel in 1981. Bill attended Western Kentucky University and received his Masters Degree in education in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brother. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Walburga Parker of Rhome; two sons, Ernest Parker and his wife, Kristina, of Rhome and Kenneth Parker of Haltom City, Texas; his grandchildren, Ralph Parker and Renee Parker; a sister, Dorothy Carlew and her husband, Ralph, of Drummonds, Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.

Ramsey Sr., Delbert Eugene - Louisville  
Delbert Eugene Ramsey Sr., 87, passed away, Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was a retired U.S. Army sergeant first class, member of National Rifle Association and VFW Post 1181. He is survived by six daughters, Trudi Coen-Rodriguez (Jay), Patricia Findlay, Karen Ramsey, Catherine Sowder (Tony), Robin Lynn Perry and Rebecca Lee Osbourne; a son, Delbert E. Ramsey Jr. (Jackie); 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The funeral is at noon Monday at W.G. Hardy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 10907 Dixie Highway in Louisville. Burial follows in Bethany Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robertin, William P. - Elizabethtown  
William P. Robertin, 87, of Elizabethtown, formerly of New York City, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at his home. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. William was born Feb. 17, 1929, in New York City, where he graduated high school and then worked 31 years for the Board of Education in New York City, before he retired. Survivors include his precious wife, Dorothy Robertin; six sons, Billy, Ralphe and Michael, all of upstate New York, Dennis of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Philip of Hardin County and Eric of Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, Pepi Robertin of New York; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Darland officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Baptist Church, 800 Rhodes Drive, Elizabethtown, KY 42701. Shelton, Chris - Mount Sherman  
Chris Shelton, 54, of Mount Sherman, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. Chris was a member of the National Rifle Association and Big Blue Nation, a diehard conservative and an avid all-terrain vehicle rider. He was a tremendous athlete and was good at whatever he tried. He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Shelton of Greensburg; two sons, C.J. Shelton of Greensburg and Johnathan Slinker of Elizabethtown; his mother, Sharon Hager Shelton of Daytona Beach, Florida; his father, Howard T. Shelton of Mount Sherman; a sister, Staci Vititoe of Daytona Beach, Florida; and two grandsons, Nathaniel and Michael Slinker. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Johnathan Slinker officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Shirley, Pauline (Bodine) - Bardstown  
Pauline Bodine Shirley, 79, of Bardstown, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. She was born April 9, 1937, in Bardstown and retired from Kroger. She was a member of Bardstown Community Theater and First Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Christmas play director. She was preceded in death by her husband, David ""Dell"" Shirley; and a brother, Isaac Bodine. She is survived by a daughter, Dana (Deron) Sorrell of Bardstown; a son, Jeff Shirley of Elizabethtown; a stepdaughter, Pamela (Tony) Ramirez of Chicago; three grandchildren, Devin Sorrell, Delaney Sorrell and Daniel Sorrell; three sisters, Barbara Bodine of Nazareth and Dorothy (Raymond) Rhoades and Roxanna (Kenny) Gordon, all of Bardstown; a brother, Marvin Bodine of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral is at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 27, at First Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Bardstown with Brother Gerald Hedgewood officiating. Burial follows in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown and continues from 1 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may go to the Alzheimer's Association. Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sommerfield, Loren Earl - Elizabethtown  
Loren Earl Sommerfield, 87, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. He was a native of Viroqua, Wis­consin, a member of St. James Catholic Church and Elizabethtown Knights of Columbus Council No. 1455. He retired from the U.S. Navy where he served in the Korean War. His ship supported the Inchon Invasion. He retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1988 after 22½ years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Earl and Hazel Thompson Sommerfield; and a son-in-law, Chris Mariner. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois Ra­pier Sommerfield; a son, Loren Paul (Valerie) Sommerfield of Frankfort; three daughters, Laura Mariner of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, Lisa (Mike) Starr of Elizabethtown and Lynne S. (Nirav) Sheth of Bedford, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, Samantha Starr, Chase Mariner, Kiran Sheth, Elena Sheth and David Sommerfield. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. James Church in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Martin Linebach officiating. Burial follows in St. James Cemetery in Elizabethtown. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continues after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home. A prayer vigil is at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Animal Refuge Center (a no kill shelter), 185 Basham Trail, Vine Grove, KY 40175 or to the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1455.

Leon "Buddy" Turner, 76, of Bonifay, Florida, formerly of Elizabethtown, passed from this life Saturday, June 18, 2016, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Mary Louise Turner; his parents, Jack Turner and Geneva Byrd; and a sister, Edith Graham. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Turner and his wife, Sherri of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Jenell Moran and her husband, J.C., of Bonifay and Penny Turner of Brooksville; two brothers, Billy Turner of Magnolia and Elzie (Susan) Turner of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There will be a service at a later date.

August "Auggie" John Wild, 44, of Brandenburg, died peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
