Anthony "Tony" Brent Scott Sr., 67, of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Tony was surrounded by his family and friends.
Tony was well known throughout the community. He worked for the City of Elizabethtown in the customer service department for 38 years. He and his wife, Geneva, served as commissioners of the Elizabethtown Youth Softball League for more than 30 years. Tony was involved with the fire service for more than 50 years, serving as a volunteer fireman
for the Hardin County, Elizabethtown, Central Hardin and Valley Creek fire departments. He served as president of Dixie Fire Association and as a member of the Valley Creek Fire Department Board of Directors. He also served as a special deputy for the Hardin County Sheriff's Department. Tony also was well known for his support of the Crusade for Children, an organization that he began collecting for when he was just 12 years old. He graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1964.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Adonna Scott; and grandmother, Zelma Henderson.
He is survived by his amazingly devoted wife of 44 years, Geneva Boyd Scott; two sons, Anthony "Tony" (Gabriele) Scott Jr., and Joseph "Joey" (Carla) Scott of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Aidan and Presleigh Scott of Elizabethtown; a brother, Wayne Scott of Central City; and many other family and friends who meant the world to him.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at First Christian Church with Brother Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
