Charles R. "Charlie" Pickett, 89, of Vine Grove, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at The Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
Charles was born and raised in Greensburg.
He proudly served in the Army
during World War II
and was a retired civil service employee. He enjoyed collecting antiques, hunting, fishing, gardening, University of Kentucky Basketball and searching for lost golf balls.
A loving husband, father and papaw, he will always be remembered for his stories.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Farris; and two brothers, Austin and Gene Pickett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Pickett; two daughters, Sherry L. Johnson (John) and Theresa A. Meyers (Arvil); six grandchildren, David Johnson (Laura), Christopher Johnson, Whitney Abell (Eric), Blake Meyers, Bradley Farris and Sarah Farris; two great-grandchildren, Sam and Caroline Johnson; three sisters, Julia Curd, Margaret O'Banion and Cecilia McConnell; two brothers, William and Brooks Pickett; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove. Burial follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continues at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
