Cover Alvis Skaggs

Cover Alvis Skaggs, 81, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of LaRue County, a lifelong farmer, formerly worked at John Deere and retired from Gates Rubber Company.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George A. and Effie Aileen Puckett Skaggs, sister Wanda Jenkins and three brothers, Robert O. Skaggs, Rudolph Skaggs and Tom Skaggs.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Mae Ragland Skaggs; one daughter, Charlotte (Timothy) Bennett of Elizabethtown; one sister, Doris Gogan of Elizabethtown; one grandchild, Cheyenne Bennett; two sisters-in-law, Bunny Skaggs of South Carolina and Peggy Skaggs of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial follows in Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation is 5 p.m to 8 p.m Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
