Evelyn Brangers Thomas, 80, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her home.
She was a native of Hardin County and a member of St. John Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and working puzzles. She was a loving mother, mamaw and great-mamaw and she cherished spending time with them all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Mac" Thomas; her parents, Joseph A. and Elizabeth French Brangers; a grandson, Patrick Overbay; a son-in-law, Kenny Ashlock; two sisters, Mildred Yates and Juanita Watson; and a brother, Joseph Brangers Jr.
She is survived by four sons, Steve (Dianne) Thomas and Tony (Cindi) Thomas, all of Buffalo, Dan (Sharon) Thomas and Alan Thomas, all of Elizabethtown; four daughters, Beverly (Lawrence) Johnston of Custer, Deb (John) Overbay of Harrisburg, N.C., Helen Jones of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sandy Ashlock of Elizabethtown; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Mable Brangers; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at St. John Catholic Church in Elizabethtown with the Revs. Dan Lincoln and Stanley Osborne officiating. Burial follows in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
A prayer vigil is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
