Georgia Lee Patterson, 100, of Clarkson, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 22, 1913, and was a retired school teacher. She taught at Clarkson Elementary and at a one room school a total of 47 years. She was a lifelong member of Clarkson Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and where she was a huge influence to many young people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles LeRoy and Mary Addeline Sands Patterson; four brothers, Charles, J.T., Roy Jr., and Winifred Patterson; and one sister, Ruby Patterson Williams.
Survivors include a special niece, Sandra Wilson and a great-nephew, Craig Wilson, both of Clarkson, who were her primary caregivers for more than nine years; a special friend, Debbie Hensel of Clarkson; four nephews, Ronnie Williams of Murphysboro, Ill., Charles Patterson of Mayfield, Alan Patterson of Louisville and Tommy Patterson of Leitchfield; six nieces, Barbara Broughton of Ashland, Dorothy Ann Murphy of Lancaster, Becky Lally of Louisville, Peggy Barton of Leitchfield, Patty Jaggers of Brownsville and Cheryl LeGrande of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 20 great-nieces and great-nephews; four stepgreat-nieces; 16 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and two great-great-great-nieces.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. CDT Saturday, May 11, at Clarkson Baptist Church with Brothers Art Hatfield and John Whittaker officiating. Burial follows in Clarkson Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. CDT Friday at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson and continues at 9 a.m. CDT Saturday at the church.
