Glendon Devore

Glendon Devore, 88, of Hodgenville, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

An Army veteran of World War II and receiving two Purple Hearts, he was one of the oldest charter members of Ovesen Heights Baptist Church and retired from civil service at Fort Knox after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bennie Devore; his parents, Sherman and Martha Crump Devore; two sisters, Christine DeFevers and Edwina Waddle; and a brother, Tommy Devore.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edna McCorkle Devore; a daughter, Sharon (Chuck) Witten of Glendale; a son, Jerry (Jackie) Devore of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, Bellamy Lyon, Jeric (Davene) Devore, Kevin Devore and Kaylyn Devore; two sisters, Nancy (Eddie) Waddle and Annette (Haskell) McCubbins, all of Munfordville; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gerald Murphy and Brother Jeric Devore officiating. Burial follows in Red Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
