Harold Edward Hendren, 90, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Jessamine County. He retired as a Master Seargeant after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army
. He worked in civil service, at AP Technoglass and as a farmer. He was a great lover of gardening and roses.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ozella Shumate Hendren; his parents, Edgar and Margaret Sutherland Hendren; two brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his niece, Barbara Turner of Lex-ington; two nephews, Barry (Teresa) Shumate of Upton and Anthony (Laura) Shumate of Elizabethtown; two great-nieces, Amy Shumate of Upton and Teri (Andrew) Thomas of Elizabethtown; two great-great-nieces, Kayleigh and Avery Thomas; and a great-great-nephew, Clayton Thomas.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Raymond Ward officiating. Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
