Harold Kenneth Sloan

Harold Kenneth Sloan was born March 7, 1922, in Schenectady, N.Y., the son of the late Kenneth and Charlotte DeWitt Sloan, and passed away at his home in Hodgenville on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013.

He owned and operated, along with his wife, Sloan's Dairy Distributing in New Windsor, N.Y., was a long-time member of Hudson River Masonic Lodge No. 309 in Newburgh, N.Y., former fire chief in Vails Gate, N.Y., councilman of New Windsor and a member of the Firemen's Benevolent Society.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Barry Sloan and Charles Fredrick Moorhead; a brother, Wesley; and two sisters, Evelyn and Jean.

He was the loving husband of Ruth Babcock Sloan.

He also is survived by five children, Zillah (Tom) Stacklum, Kevin (Lorraine) Sloan and Donna (Dennis) Denaxis, all of New York; John (Brenda) Moorhead of Kentucky and Sarah "Sallie" (Al) Ibrahim of Florida; a brother, Eugene Sloan of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell officiating. Cremation will follow the services.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
