Irene Gorin Gaslin, 92, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 2, 1920 in Hart County, the daughter of the late James R. and Elsie Bowan Gorin. She was a member of Rolling Fork Baptist Church in Nelsonville.
She was a retired clerk/cashier for many years at Simms Little Giant Grocery, then later Simms Key Market in New Haven. She was pianist for Rolling Fork Baptist Church and for many other churches in the area playing many wedding and funerals for her friends and neighbors.
She also was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Albert Gaslin.
She is survived by two sons, James R. (Sashee) Gaslin of Louisville and Charles "Charlie" (Becky) Gaslin of Nelsonville; five grandchildren, Todd (Tracey) Gaslin, Jon (Becky) Gaslin, Kim Gaslin, Kath-ryn (Jim) Corbett and Duncan Ewing; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral for Irene Gorin Gaslin is at noon Saturday, April 27, at Rolling Fork Baptist Church in Nelsonville with the Rev. Bruce Nichols officiating. Burial follows in Rolling Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Nelsonville.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven and continues Saturday from 10 to noon at the church.
The family request memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Rolling Fork Cemetery Fund.
