James Douglas Durham Sr.

James Douglas Durham Sr., 61, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Taylor County and a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Campbellsville. He was a member of the Lions Club and loved his family, horses and basketball. He was retired from GTE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Franklin and Ophelia Shirley Durham; and a brother, Joe Durham.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Phillips Durham; two sons, Shayne (Vonda) Stockton and James Douglas (Whitney) Durham Jr., all of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Charmisha (Morgan) Chandler of Dayton, Ohio, and Bridgette Durham of Elizabethtown; three brothers, Richard (Jessica) Durham of Aurora, Ill., Thomas (Irma) Durham of Campbellsville and Demetre (Natalie) Durham of Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Mary Postlewaite, Dorothy Smith and Thresa (James) Barnett, all of Aurora, and Kathy (Harry) Jones of Nashville; and six grandchildren, Morgan Chandler, Chikwendu Akins, Kaydence Durham, James Douglas Durham III, Jobri Durham and Amya Durham.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Campbellsville with the Rev. Shayne Stockton officiating. Burial follows in Pleasant Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Campbellsville.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues at noon Saturday at the church.
