John William Pulliam, 81, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013.
Mr. Pulliam was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Shepherdsville. On Aug. 14, 1953, he married the former Marga-ret Mary Cusack from Westport, Ireland. Mr. Pulliam was a career military man obtaining the rank of chief master sergeant in under 12 years and retiring after 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force
. Upon retiring, Mr. Pulliam joined the U.S. General Accounting Office specializing in auditing military spending and defense weapons systems. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Mary Pulliam; his parents; a brother; a sister; and a grandson.
Survivors include four children, Shirley A. Nordeen, John David Pulliam, Mary Pulliam – Ellis (Richard) and Frances T. Pulliam; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald H. Pulliam.
A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
