Kenneth James Travis, Jr., 63, of Clarksville, Ind., died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his residence.
He was a native of Nelson County. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War
, and he also served in the U.S. Army
for several years. He was a former employee of the Denny's Classic Family Diner in Shepherdsville. He also was a mechanic by trade and a Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth J. and Martha Adeline Travis; and two brothers, Roger Steven Travis and Christopher Porter.
Survivors include his children, Gary (Wayne) Travis, and Kenneth "Jay" Travis, both of Elizabethtown, Crystal Brassard of Dayton, Ohio, Ashley Travis of Radcliff, and Violet Travis of Clarksville; three sisters, Anna Riggs of Franklin Parrish, La., Deborah Richards of Elizabethtown, and Sheri Blackwell of Georgia; two brothers, Larry Porter of Mount Washington and John Travis; 12 grandchildren; his life partner, Christy Tackett of Clarksville, and her children, Vincent Keels, Martin Keels and Tiffany Tarter, all of Clarksville, and two of her grandchildren.
The funeral is at 6 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction, with the Rev. Mike Rodgers officiating. Cremation to follow with burial at a later date in Lebanon Junction Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
