Laro Burden Swift, 89, of Rineyville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was a native of Butler County and a member of Rineyville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Faith Sunday school class. She retired from Fort Knox civil service and gave faithfully to the American Red Cross.
She was a wonderful mother and mother-in-law and was the glue that held the family together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Lee Swift; her parents, Herman and Bonnie Bratcher Burden; two sisters, Ina Taylor and Elaine Geary; and a brother, J. L. Burden.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Douglas (Peggy) Swift and Donald Lee (Lori) Swift, all of Rineyville; four daughters, Alice (Bob) Ross of Cecilia, Pat (Gary) Prather and Rita (Rick) Wiseman, all of Rineyville, and Tammy Kinney of Richmond; a brother, Frankie Burden of Butler County; three sisters, Adline Leighton of Rineyville, Genita Burden and Wilma Beasley, both of Butler County; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Geary of Butler County; a sister-in-law, Ruby Burden of Louisville; 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rineyville Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Ward officiating. Burial follows in Rineyville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7, and continues after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
