Richard Anthony Thurman, 72, of Louisville, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Kindred Hospital.
Richard was a lifelong member of Lane Lincoln C.M.E. Church in Hodgenville. He was a graduate of LaRue County High School and a graduate of Paducah Barber College in Paducah. He worked at Fort Knox and later owned Thurman's Barber Shop in Radcliff for many years until his retirement.
He was born Dec. 23, 1940, in Hodgenville, the son of the late Augustus and Laura Weathers Thurman.
He also is preceded in death by two brothers, Augustus Thurman Jr. and Donald Thurman; and one sister, Barbara Thurman Cheney.
Survivors include five sisters, Roberta Hayden, Betty Thurman and Frances Thurman, all of Louisville, Elizabeth Bell of Hodgenville and Ramona (Bert) Plant of Detroit; 12 nieces; three nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
The funeral for Richard Anthony Thurman is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Lane Lincoln C.M.E. Church, 200 Tanner Road, Hodgenville, with the Rev. Aaron Moss, pastor of Lane Lincoln C.M.E. Church, officiating. Burial follows in Hubbard Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rust-Wright Funeral Home, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville, and continues from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
