Richard Eugene "Rick" Deener, 49, of Elizabethtown, lost his battle with cancer at his home with his loving wife by his side on Monday, March 18, 2013.
Rick served in the U.S. Army
for four years as a track vehicle repairman.
Survivors include his wife, Dee Deener of Elizabethtown; a son and his fiancé, Richard A. Deener and Sarah Reed of Elizabethtown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Victoria (Joe) Haire of Elizabethtown, Stephanie (Shawn) Vittitow of Vine Grove and Shelby Anderson of Elizabethtown; his mother, Mae Hatfield of Vine Grove; two brothers, Donnie Deener of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Dennis (Lori) Deener of Hanover, Md.; and six grandchildren, Jacob, Melissa, Donovan, Brentley, Korben and Aiden.
The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove with Pastor Lee Williams officiating. Burial, with military honors, follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continues at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
