Richard Wilson Churchill Jr., 86, of Radcliff, de-parted this life on Monday, March 3, 2014, at his home in Radcliff.
Richard was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Cook County, Chicago. The first of three children born to Richard W. and Mary Emma Long Churchill, both parents preceded him in death. He attended the Chicago School System, graduating from Du Sable High School in 1947. He joined the Army
in February 1947 and retired from the Army in 1969. He served in the Korean and Vietnam war
s. He was united in marriage to Edith I. Watts on July 3, 1949. From this union were born seven children. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Radcliff.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Churchill; and his son, Richard W. Churchill III.
Left to cherish the memory of a listening ear are his six children, Michael (Ann) Churchill and Cheryle Churchill Coatly, all of Louisville, Carl A. Churchill and Kenneth A. Churchill, both of Radcliff, Gloria (Lucius) Gundy of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Monika (Lester) Knotts of Colorado Spings, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Faron Knopp officiating. Burial follows in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff.
