Sgt. Maj. Paul C. Gray

Sgt. Maj. Paul C. Gray, 58, of Flaherty, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at his residence with his family by his side.

Sgt. Maj. Gray was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service. He also retired from North Hardin High School in Radcliff, where he was the senior NCO instructor for the JROTC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul and Patty Gray.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Charlotte L. Gray of Flaherty; two daughters, Erin R. Collins of Flaherty and Holly N. Gray of Lexington; three grandchildren, Taryn, Ryan and Henry; three sisters, Diane Dye, Carrie Childers and Teresa Hopkins; one brother, David Gray; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Sgt. Maj. Gray is at noon Monday, Feb. 10, in the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove. Burial, with military honors, follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lucas & Son Funeral Home in Pikeville, and continues from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and at 10 a.m. Monday at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home.
