Sterling Worth Martin

Sterling Worth Martin, 80, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at his residence.

He was a native of Hardin County and a member of Heaven Bound Baptist Church. He retired from Jenkins Essex after 20 years of service. He was an avid guitar player and singer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Roscoe and Emma J. Spencer Martin; six brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Josephine Riley Martin; three sons, Michael (Shelia) Martin, Ronald Martin and Jonathan Martin, all of Elizabethtown; five daughters, Debra (Bill) Carson, Karen Baggett, Cindy (Roger) Stillwell and Brenda (Bud) Baumgardner, all of Elizabethtown, and Sandra (Steve) Sullivan of Hodgenville; three sisters, Virginia Maddox of Indianapolis, Minnie Rose Anderson of Lexington and Ruth Varney of Lebanon Junction; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Henry White officiating. Burial follows in Jenkins Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
