The Rev. James Kelly Fox, 81, of Springfield, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
He was a native of Hardin County and a member of Brookhaven Baptist Mission in Lebanon. He served in the U.S. Marines and the Kentucky National Guard. He was a member of the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief and served as Washington County EMS director. He worked for the state highway department and as a maintenance manager for Medco Nursing Home in Springfield.
The Rev. Fox was a graduate of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville. He served in God's ministry for more than 42 years as pastor for the following churches, Cold Iron Baptist Mission in Salyersville, South Hampton Baptist Church in Owensboro, South Campbellsville Baptist Church in Campbellsville, Saloma Baptist Church in Campbellsville and Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Willisburg. He was actively serving as pastor of Brookhaven Baptist Mission, where he had served for 17 years, when God called him home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fontaine Kelly Fox and Rosa Sidebottom Fox.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Imo Jane Bechanan Fox; a son, Jimmy Darryl Fox of Springfield; a brother, Charles Logan (Dorothy) Fox of Elizabethtown; a sister-in-law, Anna Bechanan of Elizabethtown; three nieces, Kimberly Wagner, Patty Ahting and Karen Austin; four nephews, Kevin Fox, Doug Bechanan, Marlin Bechanan and Mike Bechanan; two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
Cremation was chosen.
A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with the Rev. J.W. Hatfield Jr. officiating.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
