Ben Hagan Poore, 75, of Springfield, Ill., passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care in Springfield.

He was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Hodgenville, the son of Edmon and Martha Miller Poore.
Raised in Kentucky, Mr. Poore spent the last 30 years in Springfield and the surrounding area. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a fuel specialist and was a truck driver for 20 years for ABF, retiring in October 2003. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 916. As a member of Calvary Temple Christian Center, he was an active volunteer and assisted with lawn maintenance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, Reuben and Jesse Poore; and a sister, Aileen Gotschall.
Mr. Poore is survived by a son, Benny E. Poore of Lexington; two sisters, Frances Rice of Elizabethtown and Midlred (Omer) Finn of Hodgenville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Staab Polk Memorial Home in Chatham, Ill., with the Rev. Randal Ray officiating.
Cremation was chosen and was handled by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham.
A committal service was Friday, Sept. 27, with the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.
