Donald Duane Lange Sr., 79 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield. He was a native of Springfield, S.D., and a member of College Heights United Methodist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart, and retired from Civil Service at Fort Knox.
He was a member of Greensburg Masonic Lodge No. 54, American Legion Post No. 113, where he was a former chaplain and department chaplain. He was the former president of the Safety Sub Council at the Post Engineers at Fort Knox, past leader in the 4-H Councils in Hardin County and a former member of the Executive Agriculture Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Albert and Ruth Amelia Fitch Lange; a brother, Kenneth Lange, and a sister, Beverly Lange DeWeese.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Dwayne (Elvira) Lange Jr. of San Diego and John Michael (Ca-sey) Lange of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Mitzi Lange of Winchester, Tenn., and Vicki Lyn Robey of Elizabethtown; one sister, Lois of Spearfish, S.D.; 10 grandchildren, Savannah and Isabella Lange, Ronnie "Jay" and Chad Goodman, Donald Lange III, Edward Lange, Jamie Switcher, Julie, David and Jeffrey Grimes and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at noon Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Chaplain Larry Vance officiating. Burial follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
