Ernestine Auguste "Esta" Pigg, 83, of Radcliff, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was a volunteer in many activities in Radcliff and Ft. Knox throughout her life. She taught citizenship classes at Ft. Knox for more than 40 years. She was involved in North Hardin High School's JROTC food drives, project graduation, classroom volunteer, and organized scholarships for area high school students. She was former director of the Optimist Club of Radcliff. She was a member of the Democratic Woman's Club in Radcliff; former president of the International Women's Club in Radcliff and the Radcliff Woman's Club; a Kentucky Colonel; and an honorary member of the Radcliff Rotary Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Ernest and Helene Weisz; a brother, Ernst Weisz; a brother-in-law, James A Pigg; and two sisters-in-law, Helga and Ilse Weisz.
She is survived by three brothers, Heinz (Lisel) Weisz, Walter (Irma) Weisz and Kurt Weisz, all of Austria; a sister-in-law, Hannelore Pigg of Radcliff; seven nieces, Sandra (Joseph) of Orlando, Florida, Jackie (Rich) Phillips of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Helga (Gerhard), Andrea, Sabine, Ingrid and Sandra of Austria; three nephews, Wolfgang (Ilse), Manfred and Markus of Austria; and four special friends, George and Angie Reimer, Inge Amos and Maria Batistoni.
The funeral is at at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with Deacon Michael Vessels officiating. Burial follows in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
