James F. "Larry" Ray, 77, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Louisville and New Haven, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Fort Myers.

He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Fort Myers. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville. He was retired chemical engineer for Zeon Chemical Company with 30 years of service. He was born June 4, 1935, the son of the late William Cooper and Mary Dorothy Medley Ray and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two sons, William J. "Bill" (Terri) Ray of Memphis, Ind., and James L. Ray of Louisville; three daughters, Kim (Hollis) Smith of Louisville, Sandi (Chris) Streicher of Goshen and Terri (Alex) Reymundo of Prospect; five sisters, Betty Johnson of Louisville, Billie Joyce (Charlie) Alvey and June Carol (Jerry) Mahoney, all of New Haven, and Mary Ann (Bill) Cahoe and Dolly Ray, all of Louisville; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Lizzy, Katie, Christopher, Alexandra, Christian, Michael, Adam and Walter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial service for James F. "Larry" Ray is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial follows in St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church Cemetery in New Haven.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 8 a.m. Thursday at William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven. A prayer service is at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with Deacon Eddie Hutchins officiating.
