"Al" John Wheatley, 79, of Vine Grove, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.

Mr. Wheatley was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War, where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys Wheatley; one brother, Ralph Wheatley; and a sister, Anna Johnson.

Survivors include one brother, Melvin Wheatley of Walla Walla, Wash.; three sisters, Doris Brantner of Portland, Ore., Erna Davis of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Linda Leaf of Vine Grove; 19 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service with military honors for Mr. Wheatley is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.
