Barbara Sue Kabalen, 68, of Richmond, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, in the Hospice Com-passionate Care Center of Richmond.

She was born June 14, 1944, in Glendale to Leslie and Maggie Richardson Smith, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a retired employee of Bluegrass Army Depot and a member of Forks of Dix River Baptist Church in Garrard County. She loved her family, friends and her church and enjoyed fishing very much.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Freddie M. Kabalen of Richmond; two daughters, Denise Pinkston (Mike) of Garrard County and Angie Haley of Richmond; one son, Mickey Kabalen (Sandye) of Richmond; one sister, Lois Cabaniss of Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Couch, Matthew Pinkston, Hunter Kabalen, Karlee Kabalen and Alyssa Haley; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Couch, Bentley Couch and Tate Pinkston.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Brother Jerry Browning and her son, Mickey Kabalen, officiating. Burial fol-lows in Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Gary Kabalen, Jim Kabalen, Andy Kabalen, Matthew Pinkston, Hunter Kabalen and Timmy Blair.
Memorial contributions may take the form of contributions to the Hospice Care Plus, 208 Kidd Drive, Berea, KY 40403.
