Betty Jean Jenkins, 83, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was a native of Boston, Kentucky, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma R. Coleman and Joseph M. Coyle Sr.; a brother, Joseph M. Coyle Jr.; and three sisters, Patricia Murphy, Sandra Kennedy and Goldie Mae Coyle.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John William; a son, Joseph William Jenkins Sr. of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Sandra Jean (Paul Wayne) Hinton of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Janet Crume of Louisville and Joyce (Jim) Plantz of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Dr. Glenn Chasteen officiating. Burial follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and continues at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
