Byron Gaza Catan, 25, of Radcliff, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012.

He attended Bellarmine University where he was on the dean's list for four years. He also attended Dance Louisville where he performed in several salsa events.

He is survived by his mother, Bernadita G. Staples; his father, Ronaldo Catan; three siblings, Allen G. Catan, Celestine G. Catan and Darrell G. Staples; his grandmother, Cecilia P. Gaza; his stepfather, Michael Staples; five aunt and uncles, Dories, Fernando, Cesar, Ernie and Arnold; five cousins, Marvin, Daren, Meldin, Malou and Jack; a nephew, Adien; and many relatives in the Philippines, Italy and Virginia.

A Mass of Christian burial is at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Radcliff with the Rev. Dennis Cousens officiating. Burial follows in St. Patrick Cemetery at Fort Knox.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and continues at noon Friday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff. A prayer service is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
