Charles Joseph Rodgers, 88, of Elizabethtown, born Aug. 30, 1924, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Bullitt County and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a charter member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church and a former member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. He established Rodgers Sign Service in Elizabethtown in 1962, was a neon tube bender and an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Emmit and Nannie Chappell Rodgers; and seven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Rodgers; two sons, Charles (Lenora) Rodgers of Elizabethtown and Michael S. (Donna) Rodgers of Glendale; one daughter, Edith Jo Rodgers (Larry) Jarboe of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Eliza-bethtown Baptist Church with Roger McCurry officiating. Burial follows in Hebron Cemetery in Bullitt County.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brown Fu-neral Home in Elizabethtown and continues at noon Saturday at Elizabethtown Baptist Church.
