Christopher Kenneth Battig, 36, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at his home.

He worked as a meat cutter at the former E.W. James Grocery Store in Elizabethtown and most recently at IGA in Hardinsburg.
Chris was an avid collector of Marlboro Memorabilia. He liked all types of music and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Rood.
He is survived by his stepfather, William Rood; his father, Duane Battig; five brothers, David Rood, Jason Battig, Matthew Rood, William Rood and Kevin Rood; his son, Seth Battig-Chee; a nephew, Aiden Rood; and a very close friend, David Burton.
A memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove with Pastor John Hildebrandt officiating.
Visitation begins at noon Saturday at the funeral home.
