Daniel J. Entsminger, retired Master Sgt., U.S. Army, died Nov. 25, 2012, from natural causes at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla.

Entsminger was a decorated combat veteran who had been awarded with the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Parachutist Badge, among other awards.
He was born in Red Star, W.Va., Feb. 28, 1934, to Henry and Cora Entsminger, the youngest of seven children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Amalie Schoierer Entsminger of Melbourne; three sons, Richard Entsminger of Ashburn, Va., retired Cmdr. John Entsminger, U.S. Navy, of Melbourne Beach and Trooper Thomas Entsminger, Florida Highway Patrol, of Oviedo, Fla.; three daughters-in-law, Sarah Lykins Entsminger, Donna Cline Entsminger and Janice Riggs Entsminger; and four grandsons, Clay Richard Entsminger, Matthew Montgomery Entsminger, Alex-ander Cline Entsminger and John Henry Lykins Entsminger.
The funeral is at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne.
