David C. Johnson, 74, of Cecilia, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He was born July 23, 1939, in Eastview and retired after 37 years at Crucible. David was a classic car enthusiast, a hunter and trap shooter but his biggest hobby was his family and family vacations.

He was a member of Meeting Creek Baptist Church and he attended Stephensburg United Methodist Church.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Grover C. and Gladys (Pearl) Johnson; two brothers, Sherman Johnson and Arnold Johnson; and two sisters, Kathleen Booker and Edith Hayse.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Johnson of Cecilia; two daughters, Debbie Seaton of Elizabethtown and Teresa Charlie and her husband, Randy Allen, of Eastview; four grandchildren, Travis (Crystal) Duvall, Danelia (Josh) Dykes, Jacki (Travis) Brangers and Tiffany Allen; five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Adrian, Joshua, Trinity and Cash; two brothers, Cleve-land Johnson and Phillip (Sandra) Johnson; two sisters, Anna Fern Best and Rita (Bill) Cecil; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Danny) Woosley; a brother-in-law, Bobby (Ellen) Smallwood; many nieces and nephews; and a very special nurse, Donna Hill.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Don Sexton officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and continues from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
