Doris Goodman Petty, 84, of Big Clifty, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at her home.

She was born April 20, 1934, in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Carve and Eula Fryrear Peters.

She was a lunch lady at Grayson County High School, a painter, a farmer and a caregiver. She enjoyed flowers, quilting, painting, refinishing furniture and crocheting. She was a member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Barnes; a daughter, Tina Gregory; a brother, Allen Gene Peters; and three sisters, Agnes Mae Decker, Flo Ricketts and Freda Wallace.

She is survived by two sons, Ricky Goodman (Terri) of Elizabethtown and Steve Goodman (Kathy) of Cecilia; two daughters, Joy Goodman of Custer and Sherry Akers (Jeff) of Big Clifty; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several half-brothers and half-sisters; nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Brother David Reynolds officiating. Burial follows in Constantine Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
