Dr. Juan Santos Asuncion, 84, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Jefferson Manor Nursing Home.

Born in the Philippines, Dr. Asuncion was a retired anesthesiologist, first teaching at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, then practicing at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville and lastly at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret James Asuncion; four daughters, Kimberly Scouller, Terri McGuirk (Sean), Alesia Barrett (William) and Christine Manuel (Todd); and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville. Burial will be in Dr. Asuncion's native Philippines.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
