Emma Frances Stith Marcum, 69, of Custer, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in the little town where she was raised.

She was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Hardinsburg to Willard Lewis and Jeannette Lee Harned Stith. She loved spending time in the country with her life long friend, George Whitworth and her precious furbaby, "Sweetcakes." She enjoyed her family holidays and North Hardin High School 1966 classmates, whom she recently had the opportunity to be reacquainted.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Fred Marcum; four brothers, Lewis Leon Stith, Willard Larry Stith, Garry Leo Stith and Franklin Ethridge Stith.

She is survived by two sons, Chuck Allen Marcum of Louisville and Larry Scott Marcum (Lisa) of Floyd Knobs, Indiana; six grandchildren, Lucy Marcum of Louisville, Nicholas Marcum of Floyd Knobs, Scott Allen Ita, Kayla Renae Ita, Lindsay Perdue and Jessica Pepper; eight great-grandchildren; and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Betty Marcum of Louisville; her only living aunt, Clara Rose Harned of Ashland; two sisters, Willnetta Lee Stith Lewis (Danny) of Sun City Center, Florida, and Annetta Lynn Stith Martin (Rois) of Elizabethtown. Nieces and nephews surviving include Maura Gerard (Don) of Bowling Green, Michelle (Walt) Louk of Summerville, South Carolina, Garry Lewis (Cheryle) Stith of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kenny Mattingly (Deb) of Elizabethtown; a great-niece, Jordyn Mattingly who loved her dearly; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia Stith (Leon) of Kell, Illinois, Sonja Stith (Larry) of Summerville and Grace Stith (Garry) of Myrtle Beach.

Emma was a survivor of esophageal cancer and was living with her niece, Tonya and Dale Wilbur in Radcliff during her recuperation process. Also helping with her caregiving was her great niece, Kiegan Dayle Wilbur.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday, May 22, at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial follows in Custer Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT Monday, May 21, and continues at 8 a.m. CDT. Tuesday. An Eastern Star service is at 6 p.m. CDT. Monday.
