Eschol E. Martin, 82, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Woodland.

He was a native of Hardin County, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and later the National Guard. He was a deacon and member of Cecilia Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Ray Martin; his parents, Blandford and Rosie Brown Martin; and a sister, Minnie Lee Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Patterson Martin; a son, Philip Craig Martin of Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren, Julia Rae Martin and Trent Philip Martin.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Revs. Greg Harry and Eric Oliver officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Cecilia Baptist Church.
