Franklin Newton Graham, 93, of Bardstown, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Life Care of Bardstown.

He was born July 2, 1919, and was a native of Colesburg. He was a retired construction worker, a plumber for the city of Elizabethtown and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Martin Newton Graham and Nora Shipp Graham; five brothers, Henry, Carl Jackson, Matthew Daniel, Joseph Paul and Charles Fields Graham; and two sisters, Martha Floyd and Pearl Brawner.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Ethel Lee Graham of Bardstown; two sons, James (Audrey) Graham of Hodgenville and Ernest Graham of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Deborah Cofer of Elizabethtown and Susan Stewart of Sonora; Linda Veirs of Elizabethtown, who he considered a daughter; five grandchildren, Tabitha (Ron) Frye, Nathan Graham and John Graham, all of Hodgenville, Melissa (Brian) Adkins of Springfield, Va., and Chuck Cofer of Elizabethtown; three great-grandchildren, Skyler Frye, Delaney Frye and Daisy Graham, all of Hodgenville; two brothers, Herbert Joshua (Elizabeth) Graham of Elizabethtown and Homer (Rosemary) Graham of Jeffersonville, Ind.; two sisters, Nancy (Eddie "Jr.") Johnson of Elizabethtown and Mildred Peters of Cecilia; three special nephews, Vernon (Sue) Skaggs of Louisville, Herbert (Gail) Graham and Gary Graham, both of Elizabethtown; a special niece, Dolores Vowels of Elizabethtown; a special sister-in-law, Anna Graham of Elizabethtown; special friends William and Patricia Fredericks, Kenny McClarity and Sonia Ware, all of Elizabethtown; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction. Burial is in Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
