Hazel Culver Sorrell, 95, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Nelson County. She was a retired employee for the old J.J. Newberry's and a member of The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Pinky" Sorrell; a son, Eugene "Gene" Sorrell; her parents, John and Mildred Culver; and three brothers, Homer Culver, J.W. Culver and Victor Culver.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Sorrell Zipprich of Bowling Green; a son, William "Bill" (Joyce) Sorrell of Elizabethtown; a brother, Earl Culver of Niles, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sorrell of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren, Devon (Rob) Glassburn, Brittany (Bryan) Coffey, Derek Zipprich, Erek (Bethany) Zipprich, Lauri (Don) Pemberton, Leslie Sorrell and Lee Ann Sorrell; and seven great-grandchildren, Rebecca Glassburn, Emily Glassburn, Marley Zipprich Stokes, Hailey Zipprich Yeagley, Carson Pemberton, Chase Pemberton and Evelyn Coffey.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church with burial in The First Cedar Creek Cemetery with Pastor Tim Lucas officiating.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown.
Memorial contributions may go to the church cemetery fund.
