Iris Davis Hodge, 65, of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

Iris was a teacher at North Hardin High School for more than 40 years, where she touched the lives of many students and instilled a passion for lifelong learning and inspired future generations of teachers. In addition to teaching at the high school, Iris was also an instructor of history at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College for many years. Iris was ac-knowledged with many awards during her years of teaching, some of which include Outstanding Teacher Award from the Governor's Scholar Program, Excellence in the Teaching of Social Studies by the Kentucky Council for Social Studies and even had an academic scholarship named in her honor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Katherine F. Davis.
She is survived by her husband James "Gerald" Hodge; sons, Kristopher Hodge and his wife, Jedy, of Upton and Jerrod Hodge of Platteville, Wis.; and two grandsons, Jonathan Hodge and Jordan Hodge, both of Upton.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with the Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park in Elizabethtown.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and continues at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
