James Adrian Dye, 77, of Elizabethtown, a native of Hart County, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at his residence.

He retired from Gates Rubber Co. in Elizabethtown, then worked for eight years at Kroger in Elizabethtown. A longtime volunteer for WJCR radio and its food bank, he joined Gavel Lodge No. 813, now No. 570, F&AM in Magnolia in 1972.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Sue Stillwell; his parents, Charles Henry and Alta Mae Vance Dye; two brothers, Leroy and Howard Dye; and a sister, Louise Locke.

He is survived by two sons, Bobby (Anna Faye) Dye of Lexington and Jerry Dye of Elizabethtown; six daughters, Eva (John) Sims and Nancy (Doug Colvin) Vinson of Elizabethtown, Judy Stinson of Hodgenville, Lisa (Don) Yerkes of Elizabethtown, Christy (Michael) Childers of Elizabethtown and Ashley Dye of Hodgenville; 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Brothers Don Powell and Warren Trailor officiating.

Burial follows in Lincoln Memorial Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
