James Clarence Jackson, Sr., 71, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his daughter's home due to cancer.

He was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Richmond, Ind., spent most of his life in Connersville, Ind., and worked at Design and Manufacturing for 30 years. He later obtained his real estate license and moved to Elizabethtown with his wife in November 2001 to be near their daughter. He helped his wife manage Heartland Self Storage on North Miles Street until he became ill in 2011.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Jackson; mother, Ollie Jackson; sister, Lydia Claxton; and a granddaughter, Maci Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Clara Jackson; two children, James (Maria) Jackson Jr. and Rhonda (Eric) Spurrier; two brothers, Tommy (Setsu) Jackson and Harold (Linda) Jackson; two sisters, Phyllis Baker and Mary Lou (Jim) Hollingsworth; and five grandchildren, Ingrid Jackson, Leha (Adam) Koethe, Michael Miller, Zoe Spurrier and Kalyn Isaacs.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Faith Apostolic Church with the Rev. David Aldridge and the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
